Frequently asked questions

How can I connect ChartMogul to Power BI?

Connect the ChartMogul account in Catchr and select the reporting data you need. In Catchr’s Power BI query builder, select MRR, ARR and customer counts and preview a short extraction. Import the generated URL through Get data > Web in Power BI Desktop. Check the returned rows before building measures, keeping revenue dates and separate customer-level versus account-level grains clear in the model.

Which ChartMogul subscription metrics are available?

Catchr exposes MRR, ARR, ARPA, customer count, customer churn rate, MRR churn rate and LTV. Customer-level fields include identifiers, status and recurring-revenue values. Choose the measure that answers the business question rather than treating all revenue and churn fields as interchangeable.

Is MRR the same as the cash collected this month?

No. MRR describes the monthly value of recurring subscriptions, while collected cash reflects payment timing. Annual billing can produce a large payment in one month without the same jump in normalized MRR. Use recurring-revenue metrics for the subscription trend and payment data for cash collection.

What is the difference between customer churn and MRR churn?

Customer churn measures customer loss; MRR churn measures recurring-revenue loss. Losing one large account can have a modest effect on customer count and a substantial effect on MRR. Show the two rates together and keep their definitions consistent with the ChartMogul report used for comparison.

Should I sum MRR across the dates in my chart?

No. MRR is a recurring-revenue level at a point in time. Adding daily MRR values produces neither monthly revenue nor a meaningful subscription total. Use the value at the relevant reporting date or show a trend, and use a separate revenue measure when you want income across a period.

Can I investigate which customers contribute to recurring revenue?

Yes. Catchr includes customer MRR, ARR, status and identifiers. Build a customer table for account-level investigation and sort by the revenue measure you need. Do not add an account-wide MRR total to those customer rows or join it repeatedly into the table.

Can I compare ChartMogul with Stripe in one report?

Yes. Add Stripe to view payment activity alongside subscription metrics. Use ChartMogul to explain recurring-revenue performance and Stripe to inspect collections, fees and refunds. Align currencies and customer identifiers, while retaining the different meanings of MRR and cash payments.

Your next report should not start with five exports.
