Bluesky to Power BI: FAQ

Answers to common questions about connecting data to spreadsheets, dashboards, AI assistants, and reporting tools with Catchr.

How do I build a Bluesky report in Power BI?

Connect the Bluesky profile in Catchr and create a Power BI query for profile counters or post interactions. Preview the rows and import the generated URL with Get data > Web. Keep post identifiers, creation dates and observation timestamps in the table so the report distinguishes when content was published from when its counters were read.

Which Bluesky metrics can I report on?

Catchr includes profile follower, following and post counts, plus post likes, replies, reposts, quotes and engagement fields. Post text and identifiers help you identify the content behind the numbers. Use the field definitions when deciding which interactions belong in your own engagement measure.

Can I see Bluesky impressions or reach through this connector?

The current Catchr Bluesky field catalog exposes profile and post interaction counters, but does not list impressions or reach. Do not label likes or total engagements as reach. Without an exposure measure, an impression-based engagement rate cannot be calculated from these fields alone.

Does a post's creation date show when its engagements happened?

No. Creation date identifies when the post was published; its counters can include interactions received later. Use the observed-at field to distinguish when a counter was read. A table filtered to posts published last week is not automatically a report of engagements that occurred last week.

Can I chart historical follower growth?

A current follower count does not reveal its value on previous dates. To measure growth over time, retain dated observations and compare those snapshots. Changing the date range on a current profile counter cannot reconstruct an archive of past follower totals.

How should I compare Bluesky posts fairly?

Separate original posts and replies, and compare content at a similar age. A post published yesterday has had less time to accumulate interactions than one published a month ago. Keep the post text or identifier in the table so unusually strong results can be reviewed in context.

Can I compare Bluesky activity with website visits?

Yes. Add GA4 and use tagged links in your Bluesky posts to identify resulting visits. Treat social interactions and website sessions as different stages of the journey. A repost or like does not necessarily produce a visit.

Does a scheduled Power BI refresh keep a Bluesky follower history?

No. Reloading a current Bluesky follower counter replaces the imported value; it does not automatically append a dated record. Keep observations in a historical store if you need daily follower changes, then load those snapshots into Power BI. For post comparisons, retain the observation time and compare posts of similar age instead of interpreting lifetime likes as interactions from the refresh day.
