g2 Review to Data Studio (ex Looker Studio): FAQ

Answers to common questions about connecting data to spreadsheets, dashboards, AI assistants, and reporting tools with Catchr.

How do I connect G2 reviews to Looker Studio?

Add G2 Review in Catchr and enter the product identifier from the G2 URL. For g2.com/products/asana, use asana. You can provide several product identifiers separated by commas, then select the product in your Catchr data source. Connect that source to Looker Studio and start with Review Date, Review Title, Rating, and Review Text to confirm the product and returned coverage before building summary charts.

Can I analyze G2 reviews by company size or reviewer role?

Yes, when those details are returned. Catchr exposes Company Size, Reviewer Role, and Reviewer Details alongside individual review text and ratings. Use them to compare feedback from different customer segments, and display the number of reviews behind each average. Keep missing company sizes in an unknown group instead of assuming they represent small businesses. These fields describe reviewers; they are not a list of companies currently researching or buying your product.

Does Catchr include G2 Buyer Intent or Market Intelligence insights?

The G2 Review source provides review data and selected product rating summaries. Its current catalog does not include Buyer Intent activity, Grid rankings, NPS, or G2's generated sentiment themes. You can read and categorize Review Text in your own analysis, but that will not reproduce G2's Market Intelligence calculations. Use the appropriate G2 product for those proprietary reports, and keep them clearly labeled if you bring an export into the same dashboard.

How do I track new G2 reviews and ratings over time?

Group individual reviews by Review Date, count distinct Review IDs, and average valid Rating values for the selected period. Product-level Average Rating, Review Count, star-count totals, and ease-of-use, setup, and support ratings are separate current summaries. They cannot be requested together with individual review fields. Use separate scorecards for those summaries; changing a date filter does not turn a current product score into its historical value.

Why does a dashboard average differ from G2's ranking or score?

A simple average of retrieved review ratings is not a G2 category ranking. G2 applies its own scoring methodology, and older reviews carry less weight in category and Market Report rankings. Your chart may also cover a narrower date range or customer segment than the product page. Compare the same measure and review population, verify the scale before combining different rating fields, and label your calculated average as a review average rather than a G2 ranking.

Can I export G2 reviews without a connector?

G2 provides a CSV download in its Review Activity area for users with the relevant access. You can use such an export as a separate spreadsheet data source when you need a fixed review set for analysis. Catchr provides a connection based on the configured product profiles for reporting on the fields it exposes. The two routes need not contain the same columns: G2's internal moderation and review-source information are not part of Catchr's current G2 Review catalog. See the G2 Review Activity guide.

Will Catchr retrieve every historical G2 review?

Do not treat a single dashboard request as an exhaustive archive. Catchr pages through reviews until the available results or date boundary are reached, with a stopping threshold of roughly 1,000 matching reviews. Use smaller date windows for high-volume products and inspect the returned coverage before comparing long periods. The profile's current Review Count can exceed the individual rows you retrieved. A review visible only in a private moderation workflow should not be expected in a public product-review report.
