Microsoft Ads to Data Studio (ex Looker Studio): FAQ

Answers to common questions about connecting data to spreadsheets, dashboards, AI assistants, and reporting tools with Catchr.

How do I connect Microsoft Advertising to Looker Studio?

Authorize Microsoft Advertising in Catchr, select the advertising accounts in the Catchr Looker Studio connector and create your report. Start with spend, clicks and conversions by campaign. Check account and currency before combining several clients in an agency dashboard.

Is the Bing Ads connector the same as Microsoft Ads?

Bing Ads is the former name of Microsoft Advertising. You may still see Bing in technical field or connector references. Select the Microsoft Advertising account you manage and verify its account ID, rather than treating the older name as a separate advertising platform.

Why are Conversions and All Conversions different?

Microsoft can exclude goals from the main Conversions measure when those goals are excluded from bidding. All Conversions provides a broader view. Catchr exposes both fields. Choose the measure that matches the business objective and keep that choice consistent in your cost-per-conversion calculations.

Can I compare Microsoft Ads with Google Ads in one report?

Yes. Add Google Ads to compare spend, clicks and results across search platforms. Align currency, dates and conversion definitions. Similar field names do not guarantee that both platforms count the same goals or use the same attribution rules.

Why do my Microsoft Ads conversion totals change later?

A conversion can happen after the ad interaction, and processing or attribution can update recent results. Compare the same date range and goal selection when reconciling a later export. Treat the newest period as provisional instead of assuming that every refresh must reproduce yesterday's total.

How should I calculate an overall CPC or conversion rate?

Divide total spend by total clicks for CPC. For conversion rate, use the appropriate conversion total and click denominator for the definition you selected. Do not average campaign percentages without weighting them; small and large campaigns should contribute in proportion to their underlying activity.

Can I separate view-through conversions from click-based results?

Catchr includes a View Through Conversions field alongside the other Microsoft Advertising conversion measures. Show it separately when explaining the contribution of ad exposure. Do not add overlapping measures together without checking their definitions, or the dashboard can count the same outcome more than once.
