AdRoll to Data Studio (ex Looker Studio): FAQ

Answers to common questions about connecting data to spreadsheets, dashboards, AI assistants, and reporting tools with Catchr.

How do I connect AdRoll to Looker Studio?

Connect your AdRoll account in Catchr and authorize access through AdRoll. Open the Catchr AdRoll connector in Looker Studio, select the available advertiser account you want to report on, and create your data source. Start with Date, Cost, Impressions and Clicks to check a daily advertiser report against AdRoll before adding conversion metrics.

Which AdRoll metrics can I report on?

Catchr exposes daily advertiser metrics including Cost, Impressions, Clicks, Conversions and Revenue, together with Click Throughs, View Throughs, Click Revenue and View Revenue. These let you track delivery and separate the results credited to clicks from those credited to ad views. Calculate overall ROAS as total Revenue divided by total Cost, using the same date range and currency.

Can I break down AdRoll spend by campaign or individual ad?

The current connector retrieves performance metrics at advertiser level. It also exposes campaign, ad group and ad information, but these fields do not turn advertiser totals into campaign-level or ad-level performance. Use advertiser and date for spend and conversion charts. Avoid repeating advertiser totals beside every creative: that can overstate results when the rows are added together.

What is the difference between AdRoll click-through and view-through conversions?

A click-through conversion follows an ad click within the applicable attribution window. A view-through conversion follows an ad impression without a click. Show Click Throughs and View Throughs separately to make that distinction visible, and use their corresponding revenue fields for the same comparison. Do not add these components to the total Conversions field again.

Why do AdRoll conversions differ from GA4 or my store's sales?

AdRoll credits conversions according to its attribution rules, including eligible ad views. GA4 and your store measure results differently, so their totals need not match. Compare the same advertiser, dates, currency and conversion definition, and check the click and view attribution windows. Catchr reports the values returned by AdRoll; it does not recalculate a new attribution model for your dashboard.

How should I calculate AdRoll CTR, CPC and CPA in Looker Studio?

Use ratios of totals for the selected period: Clicks divided by Impressions for CTR, Cost divided by Clicks for CPC, and Cost divided by Conversions for CPA. Format CTR as a percentage and handle zero denominators as blank values. Adding daily rates, or averaging them without weighting, can give misleading totals when daily volumes differ.

Can I compare AdRoll with Google Ads and Facebook Ads in one dashboard?

Yes. Add Google Ads and Facebook Ads alongside AdRoll to compare spend, impressions and clicks. Align currencies and reporting dates, and label each platform's conversion definition. The same sale may receive credit from more than one platform, so summed platform conversions are not a count of unique orders.
