How to connect your App Store Connect account to Google Sheets

Add a source on Catchr

Begin by navigating to the Catchr homepage. From there, select 'Source' from the left-hand menu, followed by 'Add a Source' situated at the upper right-hand corner. Choose 'App Store Connect' as the platform you wish to link. Follow the on-screen prompts to authenticate and establish a connection between Catchr and App Store Connect.

Adding a Source on Catchr

Create a New Query

Initiate the process by opening a Google Sheets document and selecting the "Catchr" option from the toolbar. Proceed by clicking on "New Query" to formulate a new query that will facilitate the transfer of your App Store Connect data.

Select Your Data Source

In the query interface, select 'App Store Connect' as your preferred data source. Should your account not be listed, it can be easily added by clicking the "+" icon.

Selecting Your Data Source

Select Your Account(s)

Continue to the 'Select account(s)' tab and select the App Store Connect account(s) from which you intend to import data.

Selecting Your Accounts

Choose Metrics and Dimensions

Advance to the "Metrics" and "Dimensions" segments to pick specific data points for your query. Here are examples of metrics and dimensions from App Store Connect that you might find useful:

Metrics:

  • App Name: Obtain the name of the app.
  • Review Rating: Acquire the review rating.
  • Summary Sales units: Summarized number of units sold, accounting for refunds.
Choosing Metrics

Dimensions:

  • Country: The country from which the app was accessed or purchased.
  • Device: The type of device used for the purchase or app download (e.g., iPhone, iPad).
  • Review Territory: The territory from which a review was submitted.

Select metrics and dimensions that will serve your analysis and reporting objectives best.

Choosing Dimensions

Set Date Range

After identifying the metrics and dimensions, proceed to the "Date Range" tab. Catchr.io provides predefined date ranges like "Last month" and "This year," along with the option to choose custom start and end dates for your data.

Setting the Date Range

Apply Filters

To refine your data, apply filters in the "Filters" tab. Input the desired criteria across the following fields:

  • Field: The parameter name (e.g., country)
  • Operator: The equation operator (e.g., equals)
  • Value: The specified parameter value (e.g., United States)

For instance, to exclusively view data for app interactions originating from the United States, establish a filter with Field = Country, Operator = Equals, and Value = United States.

Schedule & Customize Data Refreshness

To conclude, navigate to the "Options" tab to set up scheduled automatic updates for your data. Here, you can enable features such as "Appends rows," which incorporates new rows at the end of your data range, and "Combine rows," which refreshes all rows within that span.

Scheduling Data Refresh

With the tutorial's completion, you possess the comprehensive know-how to align your App Store Connect data with Google Sheets, fostering an environment for enhanced data analysis and reporting.

Example of Google sheets you can create to use with the App Store Connect source

Integrating App Store Connect with Google Sheets opens new vistas for visualizing and analyzing your app's performance data in transformative ways. Here are examples of Google Sheets you can construct:

App Performance Dashboard: Create a comprehensive dashboard featuring metrics like review ratings, total sales units, and active subscriptions. Such a setup aids in instant performance evaluation and trend spotting, helping you make informed decisions swiftly.

User Feedback Analysis: Aggregating review data such as ratings, titles, and content into a sheet makes it manageable to perform sentiment analysis or identify common points of feedback, enabling a targeted approach to app improvements.

Sales and Revenue Reporting: By pulling detailed sales metrics and dimensions into Google Sheets, you can form nuanced reports that detail your app’s financial health, tracking sales trends, revenue from different territories, and performance of various app versions or platforms.

Ultimately, the versatility of Google Sheets, combined with the detailed metrics and dimensions available through App Store Connect, provides a powerful toolkit for app developers and marketers aiming to elevate their app’s success and operational efficiency.
