RevenueCat data for subscription reviews and client reporting

Build your review around current subscription activity, revenue for an inclusive date range and project details. Each answers a different question: where subscriptions stand, how much revenue a period produced and which project the figures describe.

01

Current subscriptions, trials and MRR

Review Active Trials, Active Subscriptions and MRR alongside Revenue, New Customers and Active Users for the last 28 days. These indicators give you a focused starting point for a client’s subscription business review.

Overview figures are current snapshots or rolling measures, independent of your selected report dates. Include each indicator’s available last-update time and the overview currency so clients can interpret the figures correctly.

02

Gross revenue, tax-adjusted revenue and proceeds

For a selected inclusive period, report Gross Revenue, Revenue Excluding Taxes and Revenue After Taxes and Commissions. Show them side by side to explain how the revenue definitions differ.

Include the period start, period end and revenue currency. These figures are totals for the requested range, not daily observations. Do not add the three definitions together or sum overlapping periods; totals that include today may be partial.

03

Project identity and reporting context

Use project ID, name and creation date to identify the client project behind each report. Project metadata can accompany either subscription overview figures or selected-period revenue.

For a closer overview review, inspect metric names, descriptions, units, period labels and update times. Keep missing values distinct from zero, and treat project details as current metadata even when requesting revenue for an earlier period.

Connect Catchr MCP to your AI assistant

Connect RevenueCat to Catchr with a v2 secret API key that has project_configuration:projects:read and charts_metrics:overview:read permissions for the intended project. Select an accessible project; Catchr then checks that the project and its overview are readable.

Choose your reporting currency and connect your AI destination through Catchr MCP to start asking questions in ChatGPT or Claude. API v1 keys, public keys and OAuth are not supported for this connection.

Four RevenueCat questions for your next client review

Replace the bracketed details with your connected project, dates and reporting preferences. These prompts cover subscription briefings, revenue definitions, period comparisons and overview checks.

PROMPT 01

Prepare a subscription briefing

Using Catchr, what is the current subscription picture for [project]? Show MRR, Active Subscriptions, Active Trials, New Customers (Last 28 Days) and Active Users (Last 28 Days). Include the overview currency and each indicator’s available last-update time. Label current and rolling measures clearly, then draft a short briefing for a client call without implying a historical trend.

PROMPT 02

Explain gross revenue and proceeds

Using Catchr, how do Gross Revenue, Revenue Excluding Taxes and Revenue After Taxes and Commissions compare for [project] from [start date] through [end date] in [currency]? Show each period total, calculate the difference between gross revenue and revenue excluding taxes, then the difference between revenue excluding taxes and proceeds. Explain the differences without adding the revenue definitions together.

PROMPT 03

Compare two revenue periods

Using Catchr, how did Revenue After Taxes and Commissions change for [project] between [first start date] through [first end date] and [second start date] through [second end date] in [currency]? Query each period separately, show their inclusive boundaries and calculate the absolute and percentage change. Flag unequal period lengths or a period that includes today, and leave percentage change undefined if the first total is zero.

PROMPT 04

Check overview figures before sharing

Using Catchr, which current overview figures for [project] need a reporting caveat before I share them with the client? List metric names, values, units, period labels, currencies and available last-update times. Flag missing values, missing update times and updates older than [threshold in hours]. Keep zero values separate from missing data and do not treat update times as historical observations.

RevenueCat MCP reporting questions

What do I need to connect a RevenueCat project?

Use a RevenueCat v2 secret API key with project_configuration:projects:read and charts_metrics:overview:read permissions for your intended project. Select an accessible project to complete its access checks. API v1 keys, public keys and OAuth are unsupported.

Can I use a date range to see historical MRR or active subscriptions?

No. MRR, Active Subscriptions and the other overview indicators describe current snapshots or rolling measures. Selecting earlier dates does not turn them into historical observations. Query dated revenue separately from the overview.

What is the difference between the three revenue totals?

Gross Revenue is the gross amount for your selected inclusive period. Revenue Excluding Taxes is after taxes but before store commissions. Revenue After Taxes and Commissions represents proceeds after both. They are separate definitions of period revenue, not amounts to add together or daily breakdowns.

How should I handle currencies and aggregation in client reports?

Choose a reporting currency and display it with monetary values. For a single project, MAX preserves a dedicated indicator’s snapshot or period total; it does not calculate a total across projects. Choose grouping and aggregation deliberately, never add different currencies, and avoid summing overlapping revenue periods.
