Explore discovery, downloads and app feedback

Build your analysis around the stages that matter to your client: how people encounter the app, where downloads come from and what happens after installation. Keep metric definitions and available dates visible when preparing your report.

01

Understand App Store discovery and page engagement

Explore Impressions, Total Impressions, Tap, Page View and Product Page View alongside engagement campaign tokens and page titles. Use these fields to compare attention across product pages and in-app event pages.

Impressions exclude page views, while Total Impressions include them. Product Page View includes both product page and in-app event page views, so explain the measure you select in client reporting.

02

Break down downloads, installs and uninstalls

Analyze Downloaded Count by source type, source info, device, campaign token, page title or page type. Use these breakdowns to identify where download volume increased or declined during your reporting period.

Explore Install Count and Uninstall Count with their available source, device and page breakdowns. Keep downloads and installation events separate in your interpretation. The Install / Uninstall Count measure covers unique devices generating events among users who agreed to share their data with Apple and developers.

03

Add review ratings and purchase context

Use Review Rating and review creation dates to summarize feedback across reporting periods. Show the distribution of ratings to give clients more context than an average alone.

Explore the available sales dimensions, including country code, product type identifier and device. Subscriber, subscription and subscription event data also include country fields for purchase-region context. Choose fields from each dataset before deciding how to present them together.

Choose how to work with App Store Connect data

A focused app investigation, a recurring client report and a follow-up question serve different needs. Use the same reporting question to decide whether to analyze a specific dataset, assemble a report or query connected data through Catchr MCP.

Connect Catchr MCP to your AI assistant

Connect App Store Connect to Catchr using API-key authentication and select the relevant accounts. Choose ChatGPT or Claude through Catchr MCP, then ask about the app data available for your selected account and dates.

Start by checking coverage for the datasets you need. An empty analytics result can mean that no report data is available, including for a draft app; it should not be treated as proof of zero activity.

Four App Store Connect questions for your next client review

Use these prompts to investigate discovery, download sources, installation activity and review ratings. Replace the bracketed values with your client account, dates and reporting thresholds.

PROMPT 01

Compare page engagement across periods

Using Catchr, compare Impressions, Tap and Product Page View by Engagement Page Title for [account] during [current date range] and [previous date range]. Which page titles show the largest changes in each measure? Show absolute and percentage changes where the prior value supports the calculation, explain the metric definitions and flag missing date coverage.

PROMPT 02

Find the sources behind a download change

Using Catchr, compare Downloaded Count by Downloaded Source Type and Downloaded Device for [account] during [current date range] and [previous date range]. Which source and device combinations contributed most to the change? Show both period totals and the absolute change, highlight changes above [download threshold], and identify any gaps in coverage.

Copy prompt
PROMPT 03

Review install and uninstall activity by device

Using Catchr, summarize Install Count and Uninstall Count by Install / Uninstall Device and Install / Uninstall Source Type for [account] from [start date] to [end date]. Which groups have uninstall counts above [uninstall threshold]? Present the two measures separately, flag missing dates and explain why these totals alone do not establish a user retention rate.

PROMPT 04

Check how review ratings have shifted

Using Catchr, analyze Review Rating using review creation dates for [account] during [current date range] and [previous date range]. How has the distribution of ratings changed? App Store Connect MCP questions

How do I connect App Store Connect to Catchr MCP?

Connect App Store Connect in Catchr with API-key authentication, select the relevant accounts and choose ChatGPT or Claude through Catchr MCP. Begin with a question that specifies the account, date range and app metrics you want to examine.

What is the difference between Impressions and Total Impressions?

Impressions count views of your app icon in lists such as search results, charts and App Store tabs, excluding page views. Total Impressions include page views. Use the same measure across comparison periods.

Can I analyze downloads by App Analytics campaign?

Yes. Downloaded Campaign contains the campaign token created in App Analytics and can be used with Downloaded Count. The campaign column is available starting November 19, 2024. Engagement and install/uninstall data also include campaign-token dimensions.

How should I interpret missing days or empty analytics results?

Missing days in a partially available date range are omitted, not filled with zeros. A draft app may also have no generated analytics report data. Ask for date coverage before comparing periods, and keep unavailable data separate from measured zero activity.
