Ahrefs data for your next client conversation

Start with a project overview, then investigate backlinks, keywords or pages. Choose one report per query and include project details when useful, so the scope and meaning of each result stay clear.

01

Summarize a project’s organic visibility

Build a client overview with organic keywords, organic keywords in the top three, organic traffic, Domain rating and Ahrefs rank. Include the project name, target and scope to show exactly what the review covers.

These values describe the requested end-date snapshot. Keep them as individual observations rather than adding them across dates.

02

Review backlink and referring-domain context

Use live backlinks, live referring domains and all-time totals in an overview. For a closer look, query the backlink or referring-domain report with an explicit history setting: live, all time or since a selected start date.

Detailed reports use the current index and include an observation timestamp. Backlink fields such as source page author and linked domains on the source page can add context to a review; the observation should not be presented as a historical end-date snapshot.

03

Investigate keyword and page snapshots

Use organic-keyword reports to inspect when search results were last checked. Top-page and paid-page reports include the top keyword country, while paid pages also include the number of unique ads associated with a page.

Choose an end date and, when relevant, a country for keyword and page snapshots. Keep paid-page findings separate from organic-page findings, and label each result with its snapshot date rather than presenting a date range as a daily series.

Connect Catchr MCP to your AI assistant

Connect Ahrefs to Catchr with an API key, then select an existing Ahrefs workspace project as the account. Choose ChatGPT or Claude through Catchr MCP and ask for a specific report from that project.

A successful connection check verifies authentication; it does not confirm access to every report. Start with the report you need and specify its date, any applicable country filter and whether a bounded result is acceptable.

Four Ahrefs questions to prepare client work

Replace the bracketed values with your client’s project and reporting choices. Each prompt focuses on one Ahrefs report and asks for enough context to interpret the answer.

PROMPT 01

Prepare an organic visibility briefing

Using Catchr, query the Ahrefs overview for [project] at [end date]. Show organic keywords, organic keywords top 3, organic traffic, Domain rating and Ahrefs rank, with the project name, target and scope. Draft a short client briefing describing this snapshot without claiming a trend or adding the snapshot values together.

PROMPT 02

Review source-page context for live backlinks

Using Catchr, query the backlink report for [project] with history set to live and strict completeness. Show the available backlink identity fields, source page author and linked domains source page. Flag returned rows where linked domains source page exceeds [threshold], and include the observation timestamp. Explain what these fields show without treating the threshold alone as evidence of backlink quality. If the result limit is reached, report that the strict query could not return a complete result.

PROMPT 03

Find keyword observations that need a closer look

Using Catchr, query the organic-keyword report for [project] at [end date], filtered to [country], with strict completeness. Include the available keyword identity fields, snapshot date and Last update. List rows whose Last update is earlier than [cutoff date], and explain that this field records when search results were last checked. Do not infer a ranking decline from an older check date. If the result limit is reached, explain the completeness limit.

PROMPT 04

Prepare a bounded paid-page review

Using Catchr, query the paid-page report for [project] at [end date] for [country]. Explicitly use top_n completeness with a result limit of 100. Include the available page identity fields, Ads count, Top keyword country and snapshot date. Within the returned rows, list pages with Ads count above [threshold]. Include result_limit and limit_reached, and describe the result as a bounded paid-page review rather than a complete export or an organic-page analysis.

Questions about using Ahrefs with Catchr MCP

What do I need to connect an Ahrefs project?

You need an Ahrefs API key and an existing workspace project to select as the account in Catchr. The connection check verifies authentication, but report access must be checked separately. Then choose ChatGPT or Claude through Catchr MCP to query the connected project.

Does selecting a date range return daily Ahrefs data?

Overview, keyword and page reports use the requested end date as a single snapshot, not a daily series. Backlink and referring-domain reports use the current index with an observation timestamp and a history choice of live, all time or since the start date.

Can I request a complete backlink or keyword export?

Completeness depends on the result limit. The supported limits are 100 or 1,000 parent rows, with 1,000 as the default. Strict mode returns no rows if the limit is reached. Explicit top-N mode accepts a bounded result and includes the selected limit and whether it was reached; it should not be described as a complete export.

Can I add organic keyword counts or Domain rating across snapshots?

No. Organic keyword counts, Domain rating and the other numeric overview snapshots are non-additive. Present each value with its snapshot date. The same reporting discipline applies to paid-page findings: keep paid measures clearly identified instead of labeling them as organic performance.
